FAQ's

All styles on the Rachels' web-site, except where noted, are drafted from many years of sewing experience. Patterns are not sold at this time.

Q. How do I measure mine or my child's head circumference?
Using a measuring tape (in inches), measure just above the ears, around the head. This is the head circumference. Measure the same way when ordering an adult's hat/cap.

Q. What is the time period from when I place my order to when it is mailed?
Different times of the year determine the turn-around time. For example, a month before Easter is the busiest, along with October thru December. Busy times require up to four weeks. Usually the summer months are slower and I can usually mail an order within two weeks. If you do need your item by a certain time, please do let me know in an e-mail.

All items are hand-made...a word not found too often these days.  With merchandise being bought in today's time, most are made from factories in large quantities, many overseas, and we have been accustomed, as consumers, to purchase our merchandise and goods immediately, and in some cases with overnight delivery (the miracle of the internet).

When ordering from Rachels', much attention and care is given to each item(s). From the inspection of the fabric to ensure excellent quality, to each stitch sewn, it will take a bit longer to receive your items(s) vs. if you were purchasing from a retail store. I will always do my best to accomodate your deadlines.

When your items are received, you can be assured that it is the highest quality available, and will stand up to many wear and washings and in many instances, can be passed down from one family member to another. If you are not satisfied, please let me know and I will make every effort possible to make your experience a happy one.

Q. Do you sew wholesale?
Not in extremely large quantities. However, if you wish to place an order for a school play/event, store sales or similar, I will work with you and offer a discount on items made by Rachels'.

Q. Do you sew custom orders?
As of February 2012, I do not sew custom orders. A custom order is defined as anything not seen on the Rachels' website or Etsy Shop. This may change in the future.

Please note:
I do NOT sew Bridal or any other gowns and/or upholstery items. However I will alter these items if it can be done and if I have the time.

Additionally, I will NOT create any items or garments that are immodest or disrespectful. Due to personal convictions, I do not make ladies and girls pants/trousers.

Q. Do you ship overseas?
Yes, only to democratic countries (Canada, England, Australia, Netherlands, Sweden, etc...). However, some countries have a Customs Tax that you will need to pay before you receive your item. Please check to see if your country has this tax.

Q. How many years have you been sewing?
Since a young girl...Over 30 years. Professionally for over 15 years.

Q. Do you sew Copyrighted Patterns?
I do not sew for re-sale from copyrighted patterns, or patterns designated 'For home sewing only; not for commercial purposes.' Rachels' adheres to 'Ethical Sewing' guidelines. If an individual has a purchased pattern and would like a specific item made, I will sew from the purchased pattern and mail back with the completed item.
